Pandit Shivkumar Sharma was born on 13 January 1938 in Jammu .
According to his father, he started playing tabla at the age of five and then at the age of 78 he started playing tabla in a children's program.
But between the ages of 11 and 12, he played a beautiful santur instrument on his father's advice. In the year 1955, he played Santu in many films of Indian for the first time in Mumbai.
He has left behind us a lot of his beautiful music .He is survived by his wife, Monroma Pandit, and their two sons, Rahul and Rohit Sharma.
The 15th May had a contest whose tickets were sold out but the program was canceled because she was not there.

Pandit Shivkumar Sharma ji was awarded Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan in 2001.
